MOONSTRUCK - On Deck - Bows

Anchoring and Windlass:
Two anchors are mounted forward.  A 65lb Spade and a 55lb Delta.  The Spade is our primary anchor.  It is simply the best anchor I have ever used.  Enough said.  We have only used the Delta twice in 3 years of living aboard, both times when we set two anchors for storm conditions.

The Spade is attached to 350' of chain.  The Delta is attached to 50' of chain and 300' of rode.

The foredeck windlass can handle chain and rope and we use it to cinch up laid moorings.  The entire chain handling deck area is covered in stainless steel with stainless steel battens to prevent chain damage to deck.  A heavy duty chainstopper is mounted on deck.

Forward Lazarette:
This watertight lazarette is equipped with a light and a bailey lock.  It allows access to the anchor chain.  It also holds an anchor snubber  and an anchor buoy.  The wash-down hose/faucet is located in this lazarette.

On deck - Forward:
Two stainless steel dorades funnel fresh air to the forward cabins.  Dorade guards are stainless steel and are easily removable.  Dorades can also easily be removed and replaced with stainless steel cover plates if needed.  Three opening deck hatches for Forward cabin, 3rd cabin and forward head.

An inflated  13' (Caribe C9X for example) RIB dinghy can be stowed on the foredeck between the mast and the staysail stay as needed.  We stow our RIB here only during extended ocean crossings.  At all other times we are comfortable with the dinghy in the stern-arch.

Assymetric Spinnaker:
We usually keep the spinnaker on deck in its sunbrella bag for easy deployment.

On deck - Midships:
Custom folding boarding ladder.  This ladder can be mounted either side of the boat and is rarely used, but is located at the center of the boat and so has the least amount of motion.  We use it for boarding the dinghy in rough weather.

Propane storage locker.  Holds 2 US standard aluminum propane tanks (supplied).  Also holds several European style camping gaz bottles.  Fittings for both types of tank.

Mast:
Selden Mast with Electric Furling Mainsail.  Raymarine 48 mile radar.  Raymarine wind instrument.  VHF antenna.  Amplified Television Antenna.  Combined Anchor/Masthead light including high power White Strobe Light.  (not legal everywhere but extremely visible).  Lightning rod.  Folding selden mast steps.  Radar reflector.  Flag halyards.  Two mast winches.  At sea these winches only need to be used to hoist the staysail or to hoist the Assymetric Spinnaker.  All other sail control is handled within the cockpit.

On Deck Aft:
Two more dorades funnel air to the aft cabin.  Dorades are easily removed and can be replaced with stainless steel cover plates as needed.  One opening deck hatch to aft cabin.  Stern Arch and related gear is described here
