Kalamata Marina, Greece
Not to be used for navigation
DIRECTIONS
Marineros are on duty 24/7 and will direct you to a slip and assist with lines. Call them on Ch 69 when you are 10 minutes out.MOORING
Most berths are stern or bows-to with laid lines tailed to the pier. Lines are shackled to chain and some lines are too short for larger yachts. Larger yachts (45'+) should have a chain hook handy. One shackle broke on an adjacent mooring while we were there. The piers marked in orange in the photo are the most subject to swell when the wind (even slight) is from the south. The piers marked in green are the likely alternatives for transients and are less subject to swell. We rolled so much in slight winds that we moved to a 'green' area.DESCRIPTION
The Marina is fully equipped with repair facilities and a 60 ton travelift. Both the Ladies and Mens showers have clothes washers and dryers. Kalamata is a nice town. Not at all touristy. The surrounding countryside (Mani Peninsula) is quite breathtaking and similar to Tuscany in many ways.GOING ASHORE
The town is adjacent to the marina, but the old town is a taxi ride away. Most shops are closer to the port than to the Marina which is on the outskirts of town.FACILITIES ASHORE
