Yey! I got to have a week with the girls! We probably drove Alan crazy, but he was a great sport. Besides, I'm about to be subjected to pure testosterone soon, for more than a month as we set sail across the Atlantic ocean. So I needed a good dose of estrogen! We had a great time, and they got a good taste of life on Moonstruck.Highlights were sunset at Five Islands; Grilled, fresh caught Mahi Mahi; the most perfect beach ever at Great Bird Island in the North Sound; Climbing to the top of Bird Island, the view was a perfect 10; Rummy Kub and Vanilla Spiced Rum!; A wet, and wild sail around the windward side of Antigua; The most amazing assortment ever of classic sailing yachts in Falmouth Harbor; AND coming across a sail boat from GIG HARBOR!! Woodwind, owned by Bruce and Jan Smith. Bruce is an artist, and did the mural in the Tides Tavern (Gig Harbor), and the menu art. How cool is that? Also getting to know Dee, so lovely, come back anytime girl!
Here we are at the end of a fun week with Karen, Syl and Dee. We circumnavigated the island, stopping for our first night at Five Islands where we saw a blowhole and keel hauled Karen and Syl behind the dinghy for good measure!
Then it was off to The North Sound where snorkelled in the afternoon and Karen took some good pictures with her underwater camera (below). The coral was in really good condition and this was the first place in Antigua with decent water clarity for snorkelling. The next morning we had a beatiful small beach to ourselves all morning, till the "tourists" arrived.
Evenings were spent in intense games of Rummi Kub.....
Then a long motor around the East side of Antigua to Falmouth Harbour where we hung out for several days, watching the classic yacht races. It was a mellow week for all.
