Jolly Harbour, Antigua - Last minute preparations

Alan's Log:
Joan's Log:

May 9th 2007

It's the eve of our departure for Bermuda.  The boat and crew are ready, if tired.  Colin and Martin arrived 3 and 4 days ago and have helped us with last minute preparations and boat maintenance.  We passed our inspection by the organizers yesterday and we wore our new Moonstruck T Shirts to the welcome party..(Thanks Karen for organizing that).

We have met many of our fellow transatlantic voyagers here in Jolly Harbour, but JH is a long way from any town and we have been getting a little stir crazy, so this evening we took a taxi across the island to English Harbour to show C&M Nelson's Dockyard.  It was dark by the time we arrived, but the dockyard area is well lit and looks good at night, when all the tourists have left and you can better imagine how it would have looked in Nelson's day.

Tomorrow we top off water tanks, strap down a few remaining items on deck, cast off and head out for the start at Noon.  Then we plan to run the rhum line to Bermuda, a course of approx 005 degrees magnetic.  There is a tropical disturbance off the coast of Florida that we are watching now, and we will be downloading weather forecasts en route.
